Anwara Upazila (Chittagong district) with an area of 173.53 sq km, is surrounded by Patiya upazila on the north, Banshkhali upazila on the south,Chandanish upazila on the east and Bandar (Chittagong ) thana on the west. 

Main rivers are Karnafully and Sangu; main forests: Dheang Pahar, Battoli and Baramat. 

Anwara (Town) consists of one mouza with an area of 3.34 sq km. The town has a population of 4258; male 53.59% and female 46.41%; population density per sq km 1274. Literacy rate among the town people is 64.4%. 

Administration Anwara thana was established in 1876 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 10 union parishads, 78 mouzas and 78 villages.
