Boalkhali Upazila (Chittagong district) with an area of 137.53 sq km, is surrounded by Raozan and Rangunia upazilas on the north, Patiya upazila on the south, Rangunia upazila on the east and Chandgaon thana on the west.
Main river is Karnafully Karaldenga hill and Amuchia forest are noted.
Boalkhali (Town) consists of four mouzas. It has an area of 19.35 sq km. The town has a population of 58292; male 53.03%, female 46.97%; population density per sq km 3013. Literacy rate among the town people is 43.4%. It is said that Boalkhali was named after the name of the famous Sufi devotee Hazrat Boali Kalander Shah.
Administration Boalkhali thana, now an upazila, was established in 1910. The upazila consists of 10 union parishads, 31 mouzas and 34 villages.
