Burhanuddin Upazila (Bhola district) with an area of 284.67 sq km, is surrounded by Tentulia river and Daulatkhan upazila on the north, Lalmohan on the south, Tazumuddin upazila on the east, Bauphal upazila on the west. 

The river Tentulia and Shabazpur Channel are noted.

Burhanuddin (Town) a municipal town, consists of 9 wards and 13 mahallas with an area of 25.66 sq km. It has a population of 9868; male 51.75%, female 48.25%. Literacy rate among the town people is 30.23%. The town has one dakbungalow.

Administration Burhanuddin thana, now an Upazila, was established in 1928. The Upazila consists of 9 union parishads, one municipality, 3 wards, 46 mouzas and 52 villages.

Historical events A battle between a unit of the Bangladesh Muktibahini (led by Siddiqur Rahman) and the Pakistan army was fought at village Sachra Deula in which 29 Pakistani Soldiers together with their associate, the OC of the Police Station were killed. Later on the Pak army burnt down the upazila town.
