Damudya Upazila (Shariatpur district) with an area of 91.73 sq km, is surrounded by Shariatpur Sadar and Bhedarganj upazilas north, Gosairhat upazila on the south, Bhedarganj and Gosairhat upazilas on the east, Kalkini and Shariatpur Sadar upazilas on the west. 

Damodya (Town) now a municipality, consists of 9 wards and 7 mahallas with an area of 3.96 sq km. The town has a population of 14007; male 50.18%, female 49.82%. The literacy rate among the town people is 46.8%. The town is an important river port and commercial centre. It has one dakbungalow. 

Administration Damudya thana was established in 1975 and was turned into an upazila in 1982. It consists of 1 municipality, 7 union parishads, 60 mouzas and 124 villages.
