Dhunat Upazila (Bogra district) with an area of 247.73 sq km, is surrounded by Gabtali and Sariakandi upazilas on the north, Raiganj upazila on the south, Kazipur and Sirajganj upazilas on the east, Bogra Sadar and Sherpur upazilas on the west.
Main rivers are Jamuna,Bangali, and Ichamati; jalmohal 47.
Dhunat (Town) consists of one mouza. It has an area of 10.87 sq km. The town has a population of 16653; male 51.29%, female 48.71%; density of population is 1532 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 21.5%. It has one dakbungalow.
Administration Dhunat thana was established in 1962 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 10 union parishads, 91 mouzas and 209 villages.
Historical events During the War of Liberation the Pak army conducted mass killing and massive destruction in and around Alangi Bazar.
