Feni Sadar Upazila (Feni district) with an area of 197.33 sq km, is surrounded by Chauddagram, Tripura(India), Parshuram and Chagalnaiya upazilas on the north,Sonagazi and Mirsharai upazilas on the south, Chagalnaiya upazila on the east, Dagonbhiyan upazila on the west. 

Main rivers are Feni and Little Feni.

Feni (Town) consists of 18 wards and 34 mahallas. It has an area of 7.43 sq km. The town has a population of 90157; male 53.24% and female 46.76%; population density per sq km 12134. Literacy rate among the town people is 68.6%. 

Administration Feni thana was established in 1929. It was turned into an upazila in 1984. The upazila consists of one municipality, 18 wards, 16 union parishads, 143 mouzas and 133 villages.

Archaeological heritage and relics Residence and mosque of Mohammad Ali Chowdhury at Sharshodi, Rajajhi Dighi (1830), Bijoy Shingho Dighi (Mohipal, 1760).

Historical events The Naib Nazim of Dhaka appointed Muhammad Ali Chowdhury as the Fouzdar of Feni in 1762. Muhammad Ali Chowdhury revolted against the British; as a result he lost his zamindari in 1790. Marks of the War of Liberation Mass killing site 7, mass grave 1.

Religious institutions Mosque 413, temple 172, church 2, most noted of which are Feni Jami Mosque, Sharshodi Shahi Mosque, Tomb of Pagla Miah, Tomb of Pathan Shah, Ram Singh Smriti Math (1860), Rajbari Temple (1840), Ramkumar Samadhi Math (1902). Population 345801; male 51.15%, female 48.85%; Muslim 92.03%, Hindu 7.93%, and others 0.04%.

Noted educational institutions: Feni Government College (1922), Feni Teachers Training College (1963), Government Commerce College (1965), Feni Pilot High School (1886), Feni Government Girl's School (1910), Feni Central High School (1919), and Feni Alia Madrasa (1923).

Main occupations Agriculture 25.46%, agricultural labourer 9.62%, wage labourer 2.03%, transport 5.45%, industry 1.42%, construction 1.77%, commerce 18.34%, service 20.8% and others 15.11%.

Land use Total cultivable land 18122.66 hectares; fallow land 249.89 hectares; single crop 6.95%, double crop 83.95% and treble crop land 9.10%.

Land control Among the peasants 32.44% are landless, 45.24% small, 16.62% intermediate and 5.7% rich; cultivable land per head 0.12 hectare.
