Golabganj Upazila (Sylhet district) with an area of 278.34 sq km is surrounded by Jaintiapur and Kanaighat upazilas on the north,Fenchuganj and Barlekha upazilas on the south, Beanibazar and Barlekha upazilas on the east, Sylhet Sadar upazila on the west. 

Main rivers are Surma, Kushuyara and Sonai. 

Golabganj (Town) consists of 4 mouzas. It has an area of 11.55 sq km. The town has a population of 14835; male 52.44%, female 47.56%; density of population is 1284 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 40.6%.

Administration Golabganj thana, now an upazila, was established in 1922. The upazila consists of 11 union parishads, 108 mouzas and 254 villages. 

Historical events As a part of the historic Nankar Movement Ronikeli rebellion and Vadeswar rebellion were held in the upazila.
