Khansama Upazila (Dinajpur district) with an area of 179.72 sq km, is surrounded by Debiganj and Nilphamari Sadar upazilas on the north, Chirirbandar and Dinajpur Sadar upazilas on the south, Nilphamari Sadar upazila on the east, Kaharole and Birganj upazilas on the west. 

Main rivers are Atrai and Upper Karatoya. 

Khansama (Town) consists of 1 mouza. The area of the town is 7.75 sq km. It has a population of 6562; male 51.22%, female 48.78%. The density of population is 847 per sq km. The literacy rate among the town people is 847 per sq km. 

Administration Khansama thana was established in 1891 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 6 union parishads, 57 mouzas and 57 villages. 

Archaeological heritage and relics Aokar Mosque (1172 AD). 

Historical events During the War of Liberation a group of freedom fighters led by Subedar Majid had a battle with the Pak soldiers along the banks of the Atrai river. Subedar Majid was killed in the battle.
