Manikchhari Upazila (Khagrachari district) with an area of 391.71 sq km, is surrounded by Ramgarh upazila on the north,Fatkhcharri upazila on the south and west, Lakhsmichari upazila on the east. 

Main rivers are Manikchhari and Dhurang. 

Manikchhari (Town) consists of one mouza. It has an area of 75.11 sq km. The town has a population of 21132; male 52.83% and female 47.17%; population density per sq km 281. Literacy rate among the town people is 24.5%.

Administration Manikchhari thana, now an upazila, was established in 1976. The upazila consists of 2 union parishads, 11 mouzas and 120 villages. 

Archaeological heritage and relics Mung Rajbari (built about 150 years ago), Sindukchhari Pond.

Land control The Mung Sardar Family owns 810 hectares of land through permanent settlement, government owns rest of the land. However, there are lands under private settlements; in that case one can only enjoy but cannot become owner of land. 

Value of land The market value of the land of the first grade is approximately Tk 5000 per 0.01 hectare.
