Mehendiganj Upazila ( Barisal district) with an area of 435.79 sq km, is surrounded by Hizla & Muladi upazilas on the north, Barisal Sadar & Bhola Dsadra Barisal Sadar and Bhola Sadar upazilas on the south, Bhola Sadar, Laksmipur and Raipur upazilas and east, Muladi and Barisal Sadar upazilas on the west. 

Mehendiganj (Town) consists of 9 wards and 10 mahallas. The area of the town is 15.62 sq. km. It has a population of 28999; male 50.12% and female 49.88%. Literacy rate among the town people is 43.8%. The town has one dakbungalow. 

Administration Mehendiganj thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of one municipality, 13 union parishads, 135 mouzas and 161 villages.
