Nalchity Upazila (Jhalokati district) with an area of 237.17 sq km, is surrounded by Jhalokati Sadar and Barisal Sadar upazilas on the north,Bakerganj upazila on the south, Barisal Sadar upazila on the east, Rajapur and Jhalokati Sadar upazilas on the west.

Nalchity (Town) consists of 9 wards and 19 mahallas. The area of the town is 24.16 sq km. The town has a population of 38786; male 49.91%, female 50.09%; density of population is 1605 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 52.5%. The town has one dakbungalow. 

Administration Nalchity thana was established in 1924 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of one municipality, 9 wards, 10 union parishads, 149 mouzas and 150 villages. 

Archaeological heritage and relics Sujabad Kella (1639), Civil Court Building. Historical events 19 Muslims were killed in an encounter with the British army at Kulkati in a mosque compound in 1927.
