Paba Upazila (Rajshahi district) with an area of 161.85 sq km, is surrounded by Mohanpur and Tanore upazilas on the north, West Bengal of India and Charghat upazila on the south, Puthia and Durgapur (Rajshahi) upazilas on the east, Godagari upazila on the west. 

Rajpara, Boalia, Shah Mokdum and Matihar thanas of Rajshahi City Corporation are surrounded by this upazila. About 98% area of this upazila consists of Ganges alluvial soil and 2% Barind land. 

Main rivers are Ganges, Shiba and Barnai; depressions 5, most noted of which is Karnahar Beel. 

Paba (Town) consists of one mouza. Literacy rate among the town people is 60%.

 Administration Paba thana, now an upazila, was established in 1949. It consists of seven union parishads, 108 mouzas and 261 villages. Archaeological heritage and relics Bagdhani Mosque, tomb of Hazrat Madan Shah Niamat Ullah Hussain (R), two ancient Buddhist Maths (Dev Para). Historical events As a consequence of the Darusa Riot (India), in which Muslims were killed, a riot was held at Hujuri Para (village Sarusa) in 1962. The Muslims in this riot afflicted many Hindus. During the War of Liberation the Pak army forced 27 youths to dig a mass grave and buried them all in it after killing them by firing at Sonaikandhi of Haripur Union. The Pak army made a surprised attack at the Police Camp of Bolanpur and killed all the police freedom fighters of the Camp and buried them at a brickfield. The freedom fighters destroyed a patrol vehicle of the Pak army by ambush on the Rajshahi-Nawabganj road nears Kasba Sugarcane Purchase Centre and killed 10/12 members of the Pak army. Besides, the Pak army established a camp at Hat Godagari of this upazila and tortured the nearby villagers.

Population 163470; male 53.62%, female 46.38%; Muslim 97.47%, Hindu 2.15% and others 0.38%. ethnic nationals are 300 Santal families.
