Raipura Upazila (Narsindi district) with an area of 312.77 sq km, is surrounded by Belabo and Bhairab upazilas on the north, Nasirnagar, Bancharampur, and Nabinagar upazilas on the south, Brahmanbaria Sadar and Nasirnagar upazilas on the east, Shibpur and Narsindi Sadar upazilas on the west. 

Noted rivers are Meghna , old brahmaputra, Arial Kkan and Kakan.

Raipura (Town) consists of six mouzas. The area of the town is 13.5 sq km. The town has a population of 29961; male 51.49%, female 48.51%; population density is 2219 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 33.4%. 

Administration The upazila consists of 24 union parishads, 113 mouzas and 231 villages. Historical events During the War of Liberation the Pakistan army pitched camp at the present upazila building and set on fire many villages. The freedom fighters destroyed many bridges and culverts of the upazila to disrupt communication of the Pak army.

Land control Among the peasants, 10% are landless, 35% are marginal, 37% small, 15% intermediate and 3% rich; cultivable land per head 0.07 hectare. 

Value of land The market value of the land of the first grade is Tk. 12000 per 0.01 hectare. 

Main crops Paddy, wheat, potato, mustard seed, ground nut, brinjal and vegetables. Extinct or nearly extinct crops Linseed, kaun, aus and aman paddy, jute and arahar. 

Main fruits Jackfruit, mango, black berry, papaya, guava, banana, boroi and watermelon. 

Communication facilities Roads: pucca 29 km, semi pucca 23 km and mud road 230 km; waterways 22 nautical mile; railways 27 km. 

Cottage industries Weaving is still significant. Besides, bamboo work, iron work, potteries, wood work and tailoring are noted cottage industries in the upazila. 

Hats, bazars and fairs Hats and bazars are 40, most noted are Sreerampur, Radhaganj, Marjale, Hasnabad, Monipura, Bashgari, Hasimpur, Maulvi Bazar and Algi Bazar. 

Main exports Potato and vegetables. NGO activities Operationally important NGOs are Brac, ASA, PROSHIKA, Grameen Bank, Mauchak, and Palli Sahayata Karmasuchi.
